What Is Cohousing?
We believe that in modern American life, individual privacy has been
taken to an extreme and we have become cut off from our neighbors and
distanced from one another.
Cohousingdeveloped
in Denmark in the 1970soffers a solution to being
isolated in your own neighborhood. Cohousing typically consists of
1248 clustered homes whose residents own individual dwellings but
share many common facilities. Centered around a "common house" which
may provide facilities for group dining, workshops, recreation
facilities, childcare, etc., cohousing balances privacy and community
in a functional and sustainable way. Learn more about cohousing by
visiting the website of the Cohousing
Association of the United States.
