Kaleidoscope Village News
(updated 7/11/08)
We Are Building ! ! !
Finally, construction is underway. After 8-1/2 years of planning, site searches, feasibility studies, charrettes, meetings, meetings, and more meetings. After what seemed like the world’s longest site approval/permitting process, where we were stuck perpetually in “about two more weeks” mode. We actually have tires and construction boots on the ground, with the pictures to prove it. Several weeks of groundclearing will set the stage for the first phase of infrastructure. We are hoping to be ready to pour foundations in five months.
Now that we are officially building, the site is a closed construction site. If you drive by to check it out, please do not trespass. There will be monthly site visits for members and conditional members. (See below.) There are also several YouTube videos showing the construction: search for “Kaleidoscope Village”

Building the KV Community: A Note from the New Member Committee
We have reopened our membership process to people interested in joining Austin Cohousing, with the possibility of purchasing a unit in KV. Information about the community, the process of joining Austin Cohousing, the workings of an intentional community, and more about Kaleidoscope Village will be presented at our monthly Orientation Meetings. The next meeting will be held Sunday, July 20, from 1:15 to 2:30 pm at the YMCA located on Hwy 183 at 51st Street (just north the MLK exit and a short walk from the KV site!). If this date is not convenient for you, future orientations will be held on the third Sunday of the month for the next several months, depending on demand.
Please RSVP your plan to attend to this address (AustinCohousing@yahoo.com). Child care will be provided with advance reservations.
